The work is the result of a participatory art experience that actively involved the inhabitants of the Casentino, fostering a dialogue between those who have lived in these places for generations and newly arrived immigrant residents.
Through a collective storytelling process, a mythological figure was shaped — one capable of weaving together the diverse memories and narratives of the people who inhabit the town. This silhouette was then physically realized using offcuts of Panno Casentino, the historic local wool fabric.
The choice of this material carries a symbolic significance: just a few months before the workshops began, two historic factories in the sector permanently closed due to bankruptcy. The use of the fabric thus became a performative and demonstrative act — on the one hand emphasizing local traditions at risk of disappearing under the pressures of globalization, and on the other hand generating new ones, giving rise to a contemporary iconography that embodies the evolving identity of the community.
